Crime Check TV has drawn attention to a disturbing case at Amuana Praso, a community near Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, where a 12-year-old girl has been impregnated by her elder sister’s boyfriend.
The report said even more worrying are allegations that chiefs, family members, pastors, and police officers accepted money to shield the suspect, disregarding the young girl’s well-being and future.
The victim, a Basic Six pupil whose name is being withheld, had been living with her elder sister, Christiana Yeboah, following the death of their mother.
The suspect, Francis Damptey, is a married man who reportedly abandoned his family in Twifo Hemang and relocated to Amuana Praso to engage in illegal mining.
He lived with Christiana and the girl, and is alleged to have had sexual relations with both sisters.
While Francis repeatedly forced Christiana into abortions whenever she conceived, he is said to have impregnated the younger girl, who is now three months pregnant.
When school authorities became aware of the alleged abuse, the girl’s father, Boateng Sekyere, reportedly attempted to cover up the matter to avoid “embarrassment,” threatening to curse anyone who pursued it.
The case was eventually reported to the police, prompting Francis to go into hiding at Suhum.
Although he was later arrested, sources say his brother-in-law, a pastor at Nkawkaw, intervened to settle the case out of court.
This reportedly led to Francis being released from custody without the knowledge of the complainant.
Allegations further suggest that the Nkawkaw Divisional Police accepted GH¢2,500 to remove the case from their records.
Local figures, including the Gyaasehene of Amuana Praso, Nana Attah Boateng’s uncle, the former headteacher Richard Ofori, and Pastor Kwaku Mpong of the Cherebum and Seraphim Church, are also accused of accepting money from the suspect to suppress the matter.
With Francis now walking free, reports indicate that the victim’s family is considering an abortion for the young girl.
