Three persons have declared their interest in contesting to represent the National Democratic Congress as a parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia constituency.
The three are their 2024 parliamentary candidate, Henry Boakye Yiadom, who is a one-time Member of Parliament for the Akwatia constituency.
The others are Erasmus Koney Ali known popularly as Asanka, who has been an assembly member and a presiding member at the Assembly, and lawyer Bernard Bediako Baidoo, who is new.
According to the party timetable, the NDC will hold their primaries on August 4, 2025, after which all campaigning activities for the party will kick off.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will present a candidate called Solomon
Although not officially communicated, the EC has scheduled the by-election in the constituency for September.
The by-election became necessary after the demise of Ernest Kumi six months after winning the 2024 elections.
