32-year-old man assaulted by woman in viral video speaks

A 32-year-old man captured being beaten by a woman in a viral video has spoken publicly for the first time, recounting the incident during an interview with Ezra Radio.
The assault, which reportedly occurred at Nkawere on Thursday, November 20, 2025, has sparked widespread outrage, with the media house indicating that it has forwarded the video to the police and may lead to a public demonstration if authorities fail to act.
The victim, who says he works as a phone repairer and lives with his mother, revealed that the woman seen assaulting him had stayed with him for about four months. According to him, the misunderstanding began when she complained about her damaged phone.
He explained that he contacted a friend who sells phones so the woman could get a replacement. On Friday, he directed her to the friend’s shop at Adum, but she was unable to locate him because the friend’s phone was off. The woman reportedly returned home angry, believing she had been deceived.
“Later, my friend caught me and sent me to the girl so she could beat me,” he claimed during the interview. “She doesn’t frequently beat me, but this time my own friends gave me to her, and five guys prevented me from defending myself.”
He added that the woman, who sells food to galamsey workers at Tepa, accused him of using his money to buy phones for other women. He further alleged that she had previously collected GH₵400 from him for transportation.
The man also disclosed that he had only slept with the woman once after meeting her at Abuakwa, but the relationship quickly became turbulent. He stated that although he attempted to defend himself during the assault, a group of men restrained him so the woman could continue beating him.
“I’m now going to the hospital to get myself checked,” he said, noting that he has since filed a police report. He also identified someone named Ofori as the person who took the pictures of the incident.
During the broadcast, Ezra Radio emphasised its disappointment with the assault and the role played by the men who handed him over. The station insists that justice must be served and has vowed to mobilise public action if necessary.
The police are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
