41% of Ghanaians already believe in Bawumia – Sammi Awuku

MP for Akuapem North Constituency, Sammi Awuku has provided clarity on the meaning behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s new campaign slogan, “Aka 9 p3.”

“Despite our overwhelming defeat, Dr. Bawumia secured 41 percent of the votes.

“That means 41 percent of Ghanaians already believe in his candidacy,” he explained on Kessben FM/TV monitored by MyNewsGh, reminding critics that the slogan has been widely misunderstood.

According to him, the party has identified this 41 percent as loyal supporters who would back Bawumia “no matter what any opponent brings on board.”

He added that the strategy is to focus on the remaining percentage needed to secure victory in the next elections.

“The 9 percent represents the neutrals and even some disgruntled members who were disappointed in the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.

“These are the people we are targeting to win over,” Awuku stressed.

He dismissed suggestions that the NPP was assuming the 2028 elections would automatically start with 41 percent of the votes secured.

“We are not saying the votes will be counted starting from 41 percent,” he clarified.

“We know there is enough work to do to win the extra 9 percent that will push us across the finish line and make Dr. Bawumia president.”
