Eight people have died following a fatal accident involving a Sprinter van, a long bus, and a Toyota Corolla at New Ayaase in the Adansi-Fomena District on Tuesday afternoon, April 22, 2025.
According to Isaac Adjei, the Assembly Member for Fomena East Electoral Area, the accident occurred when a Sprinter van, traveling from Kumasi to Fosu, attempted to overtake a Toyota Corolla heading towards Fomena.
In doing so, the Sprinter collided head-on with an oncoming long bus from Kumasi, causing the Corolla to veer off the road uncontrollably.
Adjei further reported that the impact was so severe that the Sprinter split in two, with one half of the vehicle somersaulting off the road.
He stated that eight people died as a result of the crash, with six victims dying on the spot and two others passing away at the hospital.
He also stressed the importance of installing speed ramps in the area, citing that it could help curb reckless driving and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
