Hearts of Oak edge Heart of Lions to extend unbeaten run

Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Heart of Lions in the Ghana Premier League on Friday, stretching their unbeaten streak to six matches.
A second-half penalty, calmly converted by Mawuli Wayo, secured all three points for the Phobians at the University of Ghana Stadium. The forward’s goal, his fifth of the season, proved decisive in a tightly contested match.
Hearts created better chances in the first half, with Hamza Issah missing a golden opportunity in the 29th minute. The breakthrough came after the break when Wayo confidently dispatched a spot-kick.
The win lifts Hearts to fourth place, level on points with Lions and just one behind league leaders Asante Kotoko SC. Meanwhile, Lions have now suffered three defeats in their last four games, despite remaining in third place.
Hearts will aim to build on this momentum in their title challenge, while Lions must regain consistency to stay in contention.
