Overwhelming majority of appointments have gone to NDC faithfuls – Kwakye Ofosu

Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has address concerns raised by some persons concerning President Mahama’s appointment of state officials.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the claim about appointment of non-party faithfuls to head state institutions.

Speaking in an interview on TV3’s New Day, he said the President has only appointed avid NDC persons who possess the skills and capabilities to help the President achieve his objective.

According to him, a huge number of the persons appointed are members of the NDC party who have shown support to the party in many ways.

“At best you can say that they are not NDC or that they were not active in the NDC campaign but at the end of the day what skill set are they bringing to the position, will they help the government achieve its objectives? If so then I’m sure Ghanaians will be happy because they want to see President Mahama’s government succeed.

“I need to stress that the overwhelming majority of positions have gone to NDC faithfuls who have proved themselves highly competent over the years and if you do analysis of it, the number of people you can describe as not being NDC who have positions is infinitesimal,” he said on Tuesday.

Over the last few weeks since appointments begun, some NDC supporters have protested and opposed the appointments of some persons with claims that either they don’t deserve the position or were once supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
