President Mahama reassigns Edward Bawa to GOIL as Group CEO

President John Dramani Mahama has reassigned Edward Bawa to head Goil as Group CEO.

The move forms part of the President’s broader energy sector strategy, Mr Bawa wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday, February 13.

“I have been reassigned to GOIL as Group CEO, effective immediately, as part of the President’s broader energy sector strategy,” he said.

President John Dramani Mahama earlier appointed him as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).

The appointment is in accordance with Article 195(1) of the 1992 constitution and section 10(2) of the GNPC Act, 1983(P.N.D.C.L.64).

Edward Bawa’s appointment to the GNPC took effect from January 17, 2025.

The letter stated, “His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, in accordance with Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Section 10(2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L. 64), has appointed you as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation pending receipt of the required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, in consultation with the Public Services Commission.”
