No past and present official would get away with corruption – Aseidu Nketia

The National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has reiterated government’s commitment to hold officials of the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration responsible for alleged corruption.

His comment emphasizes the NDC government’s strong commitment to accountability, which was a major campaign message ahead of the 2024 elections.

In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter) Asiedu Nketia stated that former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta who has been declared wanted by the Office of the Special Prosecutor will not escape questioning noting that government will ensure his return to the country.

“Wherever Ken Ofori-Atta is hiding, we will find him by all means. He must avail himself for questioning on multiple cases. All former officials implicated in corruption will be compelled to face the law,” he asserted.

He further noted that government will impose stringent accountability measures, even among its own officials, to guarantee that no official, past or present, if found guilty of corruption eludes justice.

“We will tighten the noose on accountability, and even elements within this government who engage in corrupt activities will not go scot-free,” he added.

This comes after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared the former Finance Minister a fugitive in connection with ongoing corruption investigations.

Ken O fori-Atta is wanted by the OSP for questioning on alleged corruption cases such as the SML deal, the National Cathedral project, etc.
