I have declared my assets – Prof. Gyampo

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has disclosed that he has declared his assets as stipulated in Article 286 of the 1992 constitution.

Prof. Gyampo noted that he declared his assets a day after assuming his new position.

“I think it was the very day or the day after, I was in the office,” he said in an interview on Accra-based Joy FM on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

According to Prof. Gyampo, he had initially asked “friend Martin Kpebu to obtain the form for him, but that was delayed”, so he arranged for others to acquire the form.

He explained that after filing out the forms he personally contacted the Auditor-General to submit it. However, the Auditor-General who was not in the office at the time, directed an official to assist him.

He said he was given a receipt as proof of submission adding that, “As a teacher, I have declared the little that I have.”

Prof. Gyampo emphasised that asset declaration is a constitutional requirement for all public office holders, hence he sees no difficulty in doing so.

He urged other public officials to follow suit, stating, “I think the right thing to do is to abide by what the law says, so I just did it, and all others must do the same.”
