The Head of Accounts at the National Service Authority(NSA) Yaw Danso has denied getting arrested by the NIB saying he was only invited to their office.
It was reported by major media houses across the country that the NIB had detained Yaw Danso who is an accountant at the NSA for his role in the ongoing investigations into the NSA Scandal.
Yaw Danso’s said arrest comes days after the former Deputy Director of Operations Kwaku Ohene Gyan was picked up by the operatives of the National Investigations Bureau(NIB).
However speaking during an interview, Yaw Danso mentioned that he was only invited to the NIB and was never detained as being speculated on major media platforms.
He added that his invitation was to assist the NIB in their ongoing investigations adding that he was barely three months old at the NSA and therefore knows nothing about the alleged ghost names.
“I wasn’t arrested as indicated by your media. I wasn’t put into custody. I was just invited for questioning. Your reportage is denting my image. It is all over the country that I have been arrested and put into custody. NIB did not do that. They invited me and questioned me,” he said.
Yaw Danso explained that he took charge as an accountant barely three months ago, in December 2024.
“I wasn’t there when the illegal names were allegedly inserted. My first payment on the system was just last week. That is when I got to know how the system works.”
As it stands now, the NIB are on the tail of former Deputy Executive Director Gifty Oware-Mensah who we are informed is on official duty in Morocco with the Black Queens and will avail herself to the NIB very soon.
