Noguchi Memorial Institute achieves ISO 15189:2022 accreditation

The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) has made history as the first biomedical research institution in Ghana to receive the prestigious ISO 15189:2022 accreditation.
This certification, awarded by the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS), underscores NMIMR’s commitment to excellence in laboratory quality management, technical competence, and accurate diagnostics.
The accreditation follows a rigorous assessment of the institute’s laboratory processes, compliance with international standards, and capacity to deliver reliable and high-quality diagnostic results.
Speaking on the achievement, Prof. Dorothy Yeboah-Manu, Director of NMIMR, praised the dedication of the institute’s staff, particularly those involved in quality management and laboratory operations.
“This prestigious recognition reflects the resilience, hard work, and commitment of our management and staff to upholding the highest standards. From meticulous internal audits to implementing corrective actions, everyone played a pivotal role in making this accreditation possible,” she stated.
Prof. Yeboah-Manu emphasized that this milestone further solidifies NMIMR’s position as a leader in biomedical research and diagnostics across West Africa.
“This accreditation validates our hard work and enhances our global reputation for research and innovation. It assures our stakeholders and collaborators of our adherence to international standards, which strengthens our ability to build partnerships, secure funding, and create a greater impact in our field,” she added.
