Mahama to swear in new IGP today

Ghana’s President will today swear in DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno.
The swearing in will allow for him to start his work in modernizing the Ghana Police Service.
President John Dramani Mahama announced his appointment on March 13, 2025 amid jubilation from Police officers.
The government is yet to provide details of the decision to remove IGP Dampare who has been tagged as one of Ghana’s best IGPs.
However, aide to the president, Joyce Bawa Mogtari has indicated in a tweet that it was based on the fact that the president needed someone who was loyal to him.
The new IGP is said to bring a wealth of experience to policing have risen through the ranks of the police service.
He is expected to modernize and transform the Ghana Police Service.
