Suit to block Dampare’s removal ill timed

Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Tamakloe has stated that the law suit against the removal of security capos by government was poorly timed.

He explains that it looked like the former Inspector General of Police was behind the suit in a move to gag the appointing authority.

“The law suit was poorly timed.
It created the impression that you are behind it.
You try to gag the Appointing Authority.
Bad move,” he said in a post shared via social media.

IMANI Africa and Prof Anning sought an injunction to prevent the president from removing George Akuffo Dampare and other security capos in the country.

In their suit they argued that removing security heads before the court decision on May 2025 was unfair.

Dampare has been removed from his position as IGP and has been replaced with Christian Tetteh Yohuno who is expected to transform the police service.
