Was Ato Forson confused? – Amin Adam questions clarity on betting Tax

Amin Mohammed Adam has questioned the clarity of Ato Forson’s statement on the NDC’s promise to scrap the betting tax, suggesting that it created unnecessary confusion.

“I was really not sure whether the minister meant what was promised in their manifesto. He confused betting tax with taxes on other forms of lottery, and that raised suspicion for me,” he stated.

He explained that the law makes a clear distinction between betting and other forms of lotteries.

“The law provides a definition for betting and also defines lotteries, which encompass betting, games of chance, and lotto. So if you want to abolish betting tax, you must be specific,” he stressed during a press conference held on Thursday.

According to him, the minister’s statement left many questions unanswered.

“Is he talking about abolishing betting tax, tax on lotto winnings, or tax on winnings from all games of chance? Which one exactly?” he asked.
