You have our full support – Mahama assures police after swearing in new IGP

President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the need for stronger ties between the Ghana Police Service and the communities they serve.

Speaking after swearing in COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mahama underscored the importance of fostering trust and cooperation between law enforcement and citizens.

“One critical area that requires immediate attention is the relationship between the police service and the communities it serves,” he stated, highlighting his administration’s commitment to a people-centered approach to policing.

Addressing officers of the Ghana Police Service, Mahama encouraged them to fully support their new leader. “To the brave men and women of the Ghana Police Service, I urge you to give your fullest cooperation to your new leader. Your dedication and sacrifices keep our country safe,” he said.

He reaffirmed his administration’s support, assuring officers that they have the backing of the government and the people of Ghana.

“Know that you have the full support of myself and my administration and the people of Ghana… We trust in your ability to build a police service that upholds respect and human dignity across the length and breadth of our country,” Mahama added.
