Kennedy Agyapong’s absence cost us Assin Central – Ntim Fordjour

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, has expressed his belief that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have retained the Assin Central parliamentary seat had Kennedy Agyapong contested.

In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face on Channel One TV, he emphasized Agyapong’s strong appeal and past electoral success in the constituency.

“He [Ken Agyapong] has his own way of winning. Even though the last two elections were not easy for him because the numbers were going down,” Rev. Fordjour stated.

Acknowledging the challenges Agyapong had faced in past elections, he added, “But Kennedy is Kennedy, he has a way of entrenching and ensuring bringing the people along. A change of candidate was also a factor.

He has done massively for Assin Central, and even if apathy sets in, there will still be some remnants.”

Reflecting on the party’s loss, he remarked, “The Assin Central we have held all this while, and we thought we would retain it. Unfortunately, we lost it as well.”

Kennedy Agyapong, who had consistently secured the seat for the NPP, opted out of the 2024 parliamentary race to contest the party’s presidential primaries.

His absence from the ballot, according to Fordjour, played a crucial role in the NPP’s unexpected loss in the constituency.
