Judiciary is your recourse if rights are violated – Legal expert reacts to Nat’l Security raids

Private legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team, Nii Kpakpo Addo, has urged individuals who feel their rights have been infringed upon during recent National Security operations to seek justice through the courts.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue, he referenced the case of a former finance minister who has taken legal action, claiming his human rights were violated under Article 33 of the Constitution.

“In the case of the former finance minister, for example, he has gone to court, saying that he feels that his human right has been violated under Article 33. That is the recourse to law,” he explained.

He emphasized that legal avenues are available for any citizen who believes they have been treated unfairly.

“So, if you feel that your rights have been violated one way or the other, you have the right to go to court.

“And to vindicate your rights in court that based on this and that, I feel that the search was not lawful, my rights have been violated, I have not been dealt with fairly. Whatever it is you have a grievance with, you can go to court,” he stated.
