Linda Ocloo marks 50 days in office with 126 streetlights restored

Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has announced the successful restoration of 126 streetlights across various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, March 25, she highlighted the progress made within her first 50 days in office.

“Today, March 25, marks exactly my 50 days in office, and I am pleased to report that significant progress has been made and in all, about 126 streetlights have been worked on, including some highways, town roads, and community roads across the 29 MMDAs in the region,” she stated.

This achievement follows an earlier pledge to ensure at least 70 percent of streetlights in the region are operational within 50 days of her appointment.

According to her, the initiative aligns with the government’s broader commitment to improving visibility and enhancing security across the capital.

However, she noted that key routes such as the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road remain without lighting due to ongoing construction works.

“I must mention that the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road, which is of very much concern to the general public, could not be lightened because of the ongoing construction works,” she explained.

The restoration of streetlights is expected to boost road safety, reduce crime, and improve night-time navigation in affected areas.
