Sam George under fire for sacking nearly 100 Ghana Post employees

Mpraeso MP, Davis Ansah Opoku, has criticized the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, over the termination of nearly 100 employees at Ghana Post.
Hon Opoku questioned the rationale behind the dismissals, arguing that they unfairly target individuals who had gone through the proper recruitment process.
“I think the minister is overstepping his bounds, and I wonder if this whole resetting is necessary to the extent that people whose employment dates back before December 7 are even getting their employment terminated,” he stated in Eyewitness News on Citi FM.
The dismissed employees were let go under the minister’s directive, with Samuel George citing irregularities in their recruitment.
According to the minister, the move is part of a broader effort to streamline operations within the ministry and its agencies.
However, Opoku remains unconvinced, stressing that these were not political appointments but rather individuals who had secured their positions legitimately.
“These are not political appointments; these are persons who went through the proper HR processes as laid down in these various agencies and got employed. So what precedent are we setting in this country?” he questioned.
