We need our girls at home – Ali Adolf opposes kayayei training in Madina

Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf John, has voiced his strong disapproval of establishing a Kayayei training center in Madina, arguing that young girls should remain in their home regions instead of migrating to Accra for menial jobs.

“I am strongly against promoting Kayayei in Accra because we need our girls at home,” he stated during an exclusive interview with Maltiti Sadick.

The minister highlighted efforts in the North to create opportunities that would prevent young people from relocating to urban areas in search of work.

He recalled an initiative where he supported young men to earn an income and even finance their own education.

“I even gathered the boys and we worked so some of them were even able to pay their school fees to the point that when they go home to visit their parents, they tell them they’re not coming for money because their fees has already been paid, they were only paying their parents a visit,” he explained.

Ali Adolf John believes the focus should be on keeping them in their home regions and providing opportunities there rather than encouraging migration to Accra.
