Thunderstorms to hit Accra, Volta, Eastern, Central and Western Regions today — GMet

The Ghana Meteorological Agency has issued a weather alert for scattered thunderstorms across parts of southern Ghana today, April 9, 2025.

According to the notice, a rainstorm observed over the southeastern border is expected to move inland, bringing rain, thunder, and strong winds to the Volta, Eastern, and Greater Accra regions early this morning. The storm system is forecasted to drift towards the Central and Western regions later in the morning.

The alert, which took effect at 7:40 a.m. and will expire at noon, cautions residents in affected areas to take necessary precautions.

The public is advised to seek shelter when thunder is heard or lightning is visible, secure loose outdoor objects, and postpone any outdoor activities until conditions improve.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously, reduce speed, and keep headlights on to improve visibility. The public is also encouraged to stay updated on weather developments through official channels.

The Ghana Meteorological Agency continues to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.
