Two suspects arrested for attempted robbery near Asankragua

The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two men suspected of preparing to commit robbery near Asankragua in the Western Region.
The suspects, Mohammed Abdul-Salam, aged 28, and Karim Yakubu, 42, were found hiding in a bush along a stretch of road in the area. According to a statement by the Ghana Police Service, the suspects attempted to flee upon spotting a police patrol team.
Their escape led officers to an abandoned mining site where the two men jumped into a muddy pit in a desperate attempt to avoid arrest. Police, however, managed to rescue and apprehend them at the scene.
A search conducted during the arrest resulted in the seizure of one shotgun, three AAA cartridges, and one Nokia keypad mobile phone.
The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
The police have assured the public of their continued commitment to tackling criminal activities and maintaining security in the region.
