Private sector key to growth, parliament will deliver support

Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has reaffirmed Parliament’s full backing of President John Dramani Mahama’s economic transformation agenda, pledging legislative support to foster private sector growth and equitable job creation.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, Ayariga emphasized the role of the private sector in driving national development and assured business leaders that Parliament is aligned with their needs.
“The private sector is an engine of growth, and the business leaders are the drivers and operators of the engine.
“They are the job creators, and they are the innovators that we must nurture, grow, and sustain. And this platform demonstrates Your Excellency’s commitment to this very task,” he said, acknowledging the president’s engagement with stakeholders in the financial and business space.
He emphasized that the legislature stands ready to support initiatives that align with the government’s vision of inclusive growth.
“Your Parliament—the Parliament of Ghana, the people’s Parliament—stands ready to do whatever it takes to support your agenda, to ensure growth, and create jobs that are equitable,” Ayariga noted.
Ayariga outlined the proactive steps Parliament plans to take, including working through its various committees to strengthen cooperation between sector ministers and businesses.
“Our various committees will support their sector ministers and the enterprises that work with those sectors to identify their challenges, fashion out appropriate recommendations to help them solve those challenges, and we will monitor your ministers to ensure that they are delivering according to the promises you made to Ghanaians,” he added.
He further pledged that Parliament will ensure the actualization of policies aimed at enterprise development across the country. “Parliament will also monitor and ensure the implementation of the promises to incubate and develop enterprises across the country.”
