Kusaug Traditional Area moves toward peace after youth-police dialogue

The youth of Kusasi and the Ghana Police Service have taken significant steps toward reconciliation, bringing a renewed sense of calm to the Kusaug Traditional Area following recent violent encounters.
The peaceful resolution was achieved through dialogue initiated by the Zug-Raan of Kusaag, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, who urged both parties to set aside their differences and work together to restore law and order.
“A dialogue facilitated by the Kusaag Advisory Council has successfully led to the reconciliation of the Kusasi youth leaders and the police authority in the area.
Pursuant to this understanding, the youth have commenced a sensitization exercise across the 6 districts and municipality in Kusaaug to enforce the decision to coexist and collaborate with the police,” the Zug-Raan Palace said in a statement issued on April 19, 2025.
The Zug-Raan extended gratitude to both the youth and the Ghana Police Service for their cooperation, applauding their efforts to maintain peace in the community.
“The Zug-ran extends his appreciation to the youth for their understanding and commends the Ghana Police Service personnel for their cooperation.
“He assures the police of their safety and the safety of their families and appreciates their commitment to restoring policing services in the area,” the statement, signed by Secretary to the Overlord David Adoliba, continued.
