Popular TV3 journalist resigns, heads to BoG

Award-winning broadcast journalist Paa Kwesi Asare has joined the Bank of Ghana, marking a significant shift from the world of journalism to public service, GhanaWeekend.com reports.
Asare, who until recently served as Head of the Business Desk at TV3, brings to a close a distinguished media career that has spanned top-tier news organisations including Citi FM, Joy FM, Starr FM, and TV3.
He has earned a reputation for insightful coverage of Ghana’s economy and financial sector, as well as international recognition for his journalistic excellence.
At the Bank of Ghana, Asare is expected to play a key role in the central bank’s communications efforts, contributing to public engagement, stakeholder relations, and financial literacy initiatives.
His appointment comes at a time when the bank is navigating critical phases of economic recovery and policy reforms.
In 2023, Asare made history as the first Ghanaian journalist to win the prestigious BBC Komla Dumor Award.
The honour, named after the late Ghanaian BBC presenter, celebrates African journalists who demonstrate strong storytelling, integrity, and the ability to bring depth to African narratives.
Throughout his career, Asare distinguished himself as a sharp, articulate, and trusted voice on economic issues.
At TV3, he led a team that produced comprehensive business reports and analyses, helping to shape public understanding of key financial developments.
His transition to the central bank has been confirmed by sources close to the institution, who say he has joined the Communications Department and will support efforts to enhance transparency and public trust in the bank’s operations.
Asare’s move signals not only a new chapter in his career but also a deepening of his commitment to national development through effective public communication.
