A man in his sixties, Samuel Sam, is recovering after a brutal attack in which his genitals were severed under mysterious circumstances in Kwesimintsim Zongo, located in the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality of Ghana’s Western Region.
The horrifying incident reportedly occurred while Mr. Sam was visiting his girlfriend, Stella, during the Easter holidays.
The two had been sitting outside for fresh air after their electricity was cut. Later, they returned indoors separately — and that’s when the nightmare unfolded.
According to Eric Acolatse, Assemblymember for the area, Stella found Mr. Sam bleeding profusely in the bedroom. A bread knife was found at the scene. She had initially stepped into what she thought was water before switching on the lights and discovering Mr. Sam lying naked in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, where doctors confirmed that his penis had been completely severed and part of his testicles cut off.
He is currently receiving treatment and responding.
During police interrogation, Mr. Sam claimed he was attacked by two unidentified men who restrained him and used a knife to mutilate him.
Stella was taken in for questioning but later granted bail as investigations continue.
Community rumors suggest the assault could be linked to Stella’s past relationships. Some speculate a jealous ex-partner or a “sugar daddy” may have been involved.
Police are still pursuing leads to identify the attackers.
