This is an attack on public health and dignity– Akosua Manu condemns demolition of Adjiringanor toilet facility

Former Deputy CEO of the Ghana National Youth Authority, Akosua Manu, has expressed deep frustration following the unexpected demolition of a newly commissioned four-seater toilet facility in Adjiringanor, barely a day after it was handed over to the community.
In a strongly worded statement shared on Facebook, Ms. Manu, who also served as Deputy Director of Communications at the Office of the former First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, described the act as not just an assault on infrastructure, but on the community’s wellbeing and dignity.
“I’m deeply dismayed and saddened by the sudden demolition of the newly commissioned four-seater toilet facility in Adjiringanor by individuals claiming to be officials of the Ghana GRID Company (GRIDCo) than 24 hours after I officially handed over the facility to the community,” she stated.
The facility, according to her, was constructed in response to the long-standing sanitation needs of residents who have had no access to a proper place of convenience. “The excitement and relief that greeted its commissioning yesterday have now been cruelly truncated, leaving the community in shock,” she added.
Describing the move as a blow to community development efforts, she stressed, “This is not just an attack on infrastructure, it is an attack on community development, public health, and the dignity of the people.”
Despite the setback, Ms. Manu assured her commitment to delivering meaningful projects for residents, emphasizing that neither intimidation nor sabotage will deter her efforts.
“I remain resolute in delivering people-centered solutions to the people of Adentan and beyond and will not be deterred by intimidation, sabotage, or acts of bad faith,” she said.
She also called for calm among residents, stating that the matter will be addressed through the appropriate channels. “I urge residents to remain calm as we pursue the appropriate channels to ensure justice is served and the facility is restored.”
