Mahama gives health update on Vice President Jane Naana at sanitary pad launch

President John Dramani Mahama has assured the nation that Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang is “very well” and recuperating after being hospitalized in late March.

Speaking during the official launch of a nationwide sanitary pad distribution programme on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the President extended warm greetings on behalf of the Vice President, who was absent from the event.

“I wish to extend the greetings of Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to all of you. I spoke to her yesterday and I told her we were going to miss her at this event because this is a programme that is very dear to her,” Mahama said. “She said I should say hello to all of you and to say she is recuperating and catching a bit of rest. She is very well and soon she will join us to continue to prosecute the reset agenda.”

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Saturday, March 29, following a health scare the previous day.

Although specific details of her condition were not disclosed, an official statement from the Presidency confirmed she was in stable condition and had been advised to continue receiving medical care abroad as a precaution.

News of her hospitalisation led to a wave of support and well-wishes from across the country, with many expressing admiration for her service and hoping for a swift recovery.
