Accra High Court grants bail to Adu-Boahen’s wife, another in cyber fraud case

While former National Signals Bureau boss Kwabena Adu-Boahen has been remanded into EOCO custody for seven days, the Accra High Court on Friday granted bail to two other accused persons in the high-profile financial crimes case.
Angela Adjei-Boateng, Adu-Boahen’s wife, and Mildred Donkor, a former bank relations officer for the couple, were both released on bail following separate applications filed by their legal representatives.
The two are co-accused in an 11-count charge that includes stealing, money laundering, and abuse of public office — all connected to a controversial cybersecurity contract with an Israeli firm.
Their release came as the court, presided over by Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante, sided with Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine’s request to remand Adu-Boahen.
Dr. Ayine argued that intelligence reports suggested the former NSB head had attempted to interfere with a key prosecution witness.
Adu-Boahen’s lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, fiercely denied the accusation, challenging the reliability of the intelligence and his client’s capacity to influence the case.
The judge ruled that Adu-Boahen be held for a week to give the prosecution time to finalise its witness statements while safeguarding the trial’s integrity.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ayine also revealed in court that separate investigations involving Adu-Boahen are ongoing at Ghana Water Limited, signaling that further legal action could follow.
The case is expected to resume next week, with more clarity anticipated on both the original charges and the alleged attempts at witness interference.
