They didn’t know I’m petty

Nollywood star Ruth Kadiri has opened up about a deeply personal moment, revealing how what should have been a joyful announcement turned into a source of ridicule.

The actress, known for keeping her private life away from the limelight, shared that after posting her engagement in 2017, she was met with unexpected mockery over the size of her ring.

Speaking on With Chude, a talk show hosted by Chude Jideonwo, Kadiri recounted how online trolls picked apart her post, ridiculing the symbol of her commitment.

“I remember when I got engaged. I don’t know who sent me, I went and posted it. These people started laughing at the size of my ring,” she recalled.

But Kadiri, who describes herself as “petty,” didn’t let the insults slide. She admitted to personally checking the profiles of those who mocked her, ready to respond with biting comebacks.

“They don’t know I’m petty,” she added with a smile, revealing the emotional toll behind the scenes and her resolve to handle criticism her own way.

Ruth Kadiri is a celebrated Nigerian actress, screenwriter, and producer who has become a household name in Nollywood.

Born on March 24, 1988, in Benin City, Edo State, she studied Mass Communication at the University of Lagos and also holds a diploma in Business Administration from Yaba College of Technology.

She began her acting journey in 2005 with the film Boys Cot and has since featured in and written scripts for numerous movies, earning a reputation for her compelling storytelling and versatility.

Some of her popular works include Matters Arising, Heart of a Fighter, and Over the Edge. As a producer, she has also brought stories like Somebody Lied and Memory Lane to life.

In 2015, Ruth won the Actress of the Year award at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, solidifying her status as one of Nollywood’s finest.
