GMET warns of late afternoon thunderstorms in middle and northern belts

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMET) has forecast a mix of weather conditions across the country today, with partly cloudy skies, misty conditions, and potential afternoon thunderstorms expected in several regions.
According to the 24-hour forecast released by the agency, most parts of the country will begin the day under partly cloudy conditions.
Coastal, forest, and mountainous areas, including cities like Takoradi, Axim, and Koforidua, are likely to experience misty weather in the early hours.
As the day progresses, sunny spells with occasional cloudiness will dominate the weather across the country.
However, GMET warns that localized thunderstorms or rainfall may occur from late afternoon into the evening, particularly in areas slightly north of the coastline as well as in the middle, transition, and northern belts.
Some cities expected to experience thunderstorms later in the day include:
- Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kumasi, and Goaso in the middle belt
- Kintampo, Sunyani, and Techiman in the transition zone
- Yendi, Damongo, Bole, and Wa in the north
Temperatures are forecast to range between 24°C and 38°C, with the hottest areas being in the northern sector.
Cities like Bolgatanga and Nalerigu are expected to peak at 38°C under sunny conditions.
The agency advises the public, particularly farmers and outdoor workers, to stay updated on weather developments throughout the day and take necessary precautions, especially in areas likely to experience thunderstorms.
