Prof. Lord Mensah appointed new Head of Local Government Service

Professor Lord Mensah, a renowned financial economist and academic at the University of Ghana Business School, has been appointed as the new Head of the Local Government Service.
The appointment of Prof. Mensah is expected to inject deep financial and economic expertise into Ghana’s local governance system, particularly in areas of fiscal decentralization and development financing.
With a distinguished academic background, Prof. Mensah holds a PhD in Applied Economics-Finance from the University of Antwerp in Belgium, an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Prof. Mensah’s work has earned him international recognition. He has presented at numerous prestigious finance and economics conferences, including the World Finance Conference in Portugal and meetings organized by the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research, as well as conferences held in the U.S., South Africa, Vietnam, France, and Singapore.
His research is widely cited and indexed in leading academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.
Outside academia, Prof. Mensah has provided consultancy for major institutions, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Bank of Ghana.
He also serves as the Executive Director of the African Centre for Development Finance and is a well-known voice in Ghana’s financial discourse, regularly contributing analysis in media and corporate circles.
