I don’t inherit enemies – A Plus opens up on his political journey

In an interview on Channel One TV monitored by MyNewsGh, Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, shared candid insights into his political journey and the dynamics that led to his fallout with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

A Plus, known for his outspoken nature, explained that his initial connection with the NPP was rooted in his admiration for former president Nana Akufo-Addo.

“I grew up liking Nana,” A Plus confessed. “He understood my music and appreciated what I did, which drew me closer to him.

“I wanted to see him succeed when he ran for president,” he said. However, things took a turn, and when asked about the fallout, A Plus was quick to clarify, “I haven’t fallen out with the NPP. If I’m angry, it’s normal, but there’s no reason to make it a bigger issue.”

Refuting rumours about personal gain, A Plus emphasised his integrity: “If I wanted something, it wasn’t because I didn’t get it. I never asked for anything that would compromise my honesty.”

He also addressed his brief stint as an oil executive, revealing that despite expectations placed on him, he couldn’t stop himself from speaking out. “They gave me a job, but one month in, they said I was talking too much and took their job away. I didn’t make anything big from it,” A Plus shared.

Looking ahead, A Plus confidently said, “I’m a member of the majority party now, and I’m enjoying my time with them.

“I believe in their leadership. I’ve got no enemies to inherit,” referring to his respectful relationship with both NPP and NDC members. Reflecting on his future, A Plus laughed and said, “If I want to be president someday, let’s see. I have plans, but life is in God’s hands.”
