Ntim Fordjour demands probe into alleged national security fund misuse

Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has called for an immediate and thorough investigation into allegations of financial impropriety at the National Security Secretariat.
His call follows claims by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, a former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau, who alleged in a leaked memo that public funds intended for sensitive national security operations were instead diverted to political campaigns and parliamentary committees.
In a social media post on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Rev. Ntim Fordjour described the revelations as “shocking, scary and a major national security scandal.”
He cited figures allegedly disbursed for political and legislative purposes, including GH¢8.3 million in support of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the 2024 election campaign, GH¢960,000 to the Defence and Interior Committee in 2020/21 to facilitate the passage of legislation, GH¢309,000 to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024 for passing a Legislative Instrument, and GH¢5.135 million said to have been expended on President Mahama’s special aides in December 2024.
Fordjour insisted that taxpayers deserve full transparency, noting that “this must not be politics as usual.”
He urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Auditor-General, and relevant parliamentary oversight bodies to take immediate action by launching a credible investigation to uncover the truth and hold those responsible to account.
He emphasised that only a transparent and independent probe can restore public trust in Ghana’s national security institutions.
