Planned and emergency maintenance to affect Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra – ECG
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced both planned and emergency maintenance activities across three major regions today, Thursday, May 8, 2025, as part of efforts to improve electricity distribution and service reliability.
According to a public notice issued by the company, parts of the Ashanti, Central, and Greater Accra regions will experience temporary power outages beginning at 9am, with restoration times varying by location.
Ashanti Region
In the Ashanti Region, ECG is carrying out an emergency maintenance exercise from 9am to 3pm, targeting Tetrem, Boamang, and nearby areas. The company says the work is necessary to improve supply reliability in these communities.
Additionally, planned maintenance works between 9am and 5pm will affect the following localities:
- Group 1: BRRI, CRI, Abirem, Antoa, Adesina, Kenyase, Bosore, Akate Farms, Nwamase, Brofoyedru, Garden City, Duase and surrounding areas.
- Group 2: Akyease, Tikrom, Baworo, Adako Jachie, Raktia Farms, Agyiriwaa, Akokoamon, Kyerekrom, Paakoso, Aprade and nearby communities.
ECG noted that these interventions form part of a broader initiative to enhance the stability and efficiency of power delivery in the region.
Central Region
Maintenance work in the Central Region is scheduled from 9am to 4pm, with outages expected in Elmina Shell, African Pot, CP, Iture, Abakam, Duakro and surrounding areas. ECG apologised for the inconvenience and promised timely restoration of power.
Greater Accra Region
In Greater Accra, residents in Chain Homes Estate, Teshie New England and nearby areas will also be affected by maintenance activities scheduled from 9am to 5pm today.
Customer Advisory
While apologising for the inconvenience, ECG urged customers to treat all electrical appliances as live during the outage period and to plan accordingly.
