Black Sherif earns 2025 BET awards nomination for Best International Act

Ghanaian music sensation Black Sherif has once again gained international recognition, securing a nomination at the 2025 BET Awards in the prestigious Best International Act category.
The “Second Sermon” hitmaker is the only Ghanaian artiste nominated this year, joining a competitive list of global talents including Ayra Starr and Rema (Nigeria), Tyla and Uncle Waffles (South Africa and Swaziland respectively), Gabrielly and MC Luanna (Brazil), Joé Dwèt Filé and SDM (France), and the UK’s Basky and Ezra Collective.

Black Sherif’s nomination follows his 2023 win for Best International Flow at the BET Hip Hop Awards, making him the second Ghanaian to achieve that feat after Sarkodie’s landmark win in 2019.
His emotionally-charged lyrics and genre-blending style—often fusing highlife, drill, and trap—have helped him carve a unique identity on the global music scene.
The BET Awards, launched in 2001 by Black Entertainment Television, continues to celebrate Black excellence in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.
Over the years, the event has grown to spotlight African talent, with categories that recognize the continent’s rising influence on global entertainment.
Black Sherif’s latest nomination further cements his status as one of Africa’s most promising young voices, carrying the Ghanaian flag high on the international stage.
