We are not part of it – NDC denies taking GHC 8m from NSB

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has forcefully rejected claims that it received over GH¢8 million from the National Signals Bureau (NSB) ahead of the 2024 general elections, dismissing the allegations as politically motivated and utterly baseless.
Reacting to a memo reportedly authored by former NSB Director Kwabena Adu-Boahene, which alleged that funds were distributed to opposition parties for election-related logistics, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, issued a firm denial.
“Those people they’re referring to supported them during their recent demonstration. He knows his partners—that’s who he was referring to. And I’m sure everybody has seen that. My opponent would give me resources to defeat him in an election? Does that make sense?” Dr. Tanko-Computer told Joy News on Friday, May 9.
The memo, addressed to the National Security Coordinator, has stirred intense debate, with ruling party figures suggesting the NDC benefitted from secret state funds. But Dr. Tanko-Computer maintained that the party’s campaign and electoral operations were financed independently.
“I can speak on authority—it’s not possible at all. These guys are just clutching at straws. It won’t help them. They should go and negotiate a plea bargain, otherwise, he [Adu-Boahene] could be looking at 25 years,” he warned, hinting at the legal consequences Adu-Boahene might face for the alleged misappropriation.
Offering context from electoral engagements, he further stressed that the NDC’s struggles and victories were the result of its own sacrifices, not external help.
“When we were in IPAC, anytime the NDC opposed the EC and NPP, those parties sided with the EC and NPP. The NDC has nothing to do with this. We fought hard, used our own resources, and dealt a heavy blow to the NPP,” he said.
Dr. Tanko-Computer also distanced the party from what he described as “rubbish,” making it clear that the NDC was not involved in any underhand dealings with state agencies.
“The party has no business with whatever rubbish is coming out—we are not part of it,” he declared.
