Jubilee House grills Sammy Gyamfi on dollar payment to evangelist Nana Agradaa

The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, following the circulation of a viral video that shows him handing over a sum of money—reportedly in US dollars—to Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.

Sources at the Jubilee House confirmed to Citi News that Gyamfi has been asked to appear before the Chief of Staff to clarify the circumstances of the transaction.

The footage has triggered public outcry and raised questions about the ethical standards of public officials.

In the video, Gyamfi is seen in what appears to be a private meeting with Nana Agradaa, a controversial religious figure and former fetish priestess turned evangelist.

The exact purpose of the cash handover remains unclear, but its public exposure has sparked widespread speculation and criticism, especially given Agradaa’s polarizing reputation.

Many critics argue that the incident could undermine President John Dramani Mahama’s recently unveiled Code of Conduct for Public Officials, which stresses integrity, accountability, and transparency in governance. The code is part of a broader anti-corruption initiative aimed at restoring public trust in state institutions.

In response to the backlash, Sammy Gyamfi issued an apology on Sunday, May 11, stating that the gesture was a private act of generosity that was not intended for public viewing.

Despite his apology, insiders say the Chief of Staff is treating the issue with urgency due to its potential political and reputational implications.

Nana Agradaa remains a divisive figure in Ghanaian society, with her transition from traditional spiritualist to Christian evangelist continuing to attract both support and skepticism—compounded by her history of legal troubles and controversial public statements.
