Victory in 2028 is a mission – Bawumia Charges NPP

Former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to put the past behind them and focus on a collective mission to restore the NPP’s fortunes ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Addressing party supporters in the Volta Region on Thursday, May 8, during the NPP’s ongoing ‘Thank You Tour’, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the need for unity, determination, and grassroots engagement as key pillars of the party’s recovery.

“Let us all rise and rebuild together, for victory in 2028 is not a dream but a mission. We have the talent, the ideas and the resolve—now is the time to act,” Bawumia urged.

In what appeared to be a moment of reflection and renewed purpose, he acknowledged the party’s defeat in the recent polls but insisted the setback must not become a stumbling block.

“We did not achieve the result we desired, but that is behind us now. What matters is how we rise from this and strengthen our party’s structures at every level,” he stated.

Dr. Bawumia stressed that a stronger presence at the grassroots level would be instrumental in reconnecting with the electorate and regaining public confidence.

“We must rebuild our grassroots presence. From regional executives down to polling-station agents, everyone has a role to play in restoring confidence among Ghanaians.”

He also highlighted the potential of the Volta Region, urging the party to listen more closely to the needs of local communities and honour its commitments.

“This region is ripe for transformation. By engaging sincerely with local concerns and delivering on our promises, we will earn the trust of communities here.”

The former Vice-President’s message was one of resilience and action, pointing toward a long-term vision to reposition the NPP as a trusted political force. His remarks in the Volta Region form part of a broader effort to consolidate support and reorganize the party’s base following the 2024 elections.
