Cloudy weather and thunderstorms to affect Ghana’s weather today

The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has issued a 24-hour weather forecast for the country, valid from 6:00 a.m. today, May 13, 2025.

The forecast predicts varying weather conditions across different regions, with mist, fog, cloudy weather, and thunderstorms expected throughout the day.

According to GMet, mist and fog patches are anticipated along coastal areas, forests, and mountainous regions this morning.

Cloudy conditions with a chance of rain are expected in parts of the transition and middle belts, while the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy weather.

As the day progresses, conditions are set to change. By afternoon, most areas will see a mix of sun and clouds.

However, from the afternoon into the evening, thunderstorms or rain are forecast in regions north of the coastline, as well as in the middle, transition, and northern sectors.

Weather forecast for major cities:

  • Accra: Partly cloudy in the morning with temperatures around 27°C. The afternoon will be sunny with temperatures reaching 33°C, followed by cloudy weather in the evening with temperatures dropping to 28°C.
  • Kumasi: Expect partly cloudy weather in the morning, with temperatures at 25°C. The afternoon will be sunny with temperatures reaching 34°C, while thunderstorms are expected in the evening with temperatures around 28°C.
  • Cape Coast: Cloudy in the morning with temperatures at 24°C. Rain is expected in the afternoon with temperatures rising to 30°C, and thunderstorms will continue into the evening with a temperature of 27°C.
  • Takoradi: Misty conditions in the morning with temperatures at 24°C. Thunderstorms are expected later in the afternoon, with a high of 32°C, and rain is anticipated in the evening, bringing temperatures down to 27°C.
  • Tamale: Partly cloudy in the morning with a temperature of 27°C. Expect sunny intervals in the afternoon with temperatures around 36°C, followed by thunderstorms in the evening with temperatures at 29°C.

GMet has advised the public to stay informed about the changing weather conditions and take necessary precautions, especially in areas prone to thunderstorms or heavy rainfall.
