Release parts of Mike Ocquaye report to aid NPP reforms – Dr. Forkuo

Political analyst and senior lecturer at Kumasi Technical University, Dr. Solomon Forkuo, is calling on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to make portions of the Prof. Mike Ocquaye-led committee’s report on the party’s 2024 electoral loss public.

His appeal comes as pressure mounts on the party to confront internal challenges that contributed to its defeat.

The report in question, commissioned by the NPP after its loss in the 2024 general elections, was spearheaded by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Aaron Mike Ocquaye.

The committee was tasked with investigating the root causes of the party’s poor performance and recommending practical steps for rebuilding ahead of future contests.

While the report is believed to be comprehensive, little has been shared publicly, fueling speculation and calls for greater transparency.

Dr. Forkuo believes that withholding the entire report limits the party’s ability to learn from its mistakes.

He is proposing that the findings be divided into two categories—classified and unclassified—to allow key insights to be shared with the party’s grassroots without compromising strategic or sensitive information.

“The party’s issues go beyond just the delegate system,” Dr. Forkuo stressed, arguing that real solutions will come from confronting deeper structural and behavioural weaknesses that the report is likely to highlight.

“Some issues ought to be discussed; they shouldn’t be ashamed to discuss it,” he noted, urging the party to embrace open dialogue as a path to genuine reform.

For Dr. Forkuo, the silence around the report risks stagnation at a critical time when the NPP needs to regain trust and prepare for the 2028 elections.

Publishing elements of the report, he argues, will not only restore confidence among members but also encourage honest self-examination—an essential step for any party seeking redemption.
