Police intercept 24 bags of suspected Indian hemp in intelligence-led operation

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two women, Hawa Ibrahim and Latifa Adams, for possessing a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances at Antokrom in the Eastern Region.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page today, the Police said the suspects were picked up during an intelligence-led operation on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

According to the Eastern North Regional Police Command, a search conducted at the residence of suspect Hawa Ibrahim uncovered twenty-four (24) maxi bags containing a total of 1,650 slabs of compressed and ball-shaped substances believed to be Indian hemp.

The two suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities say they will be processed for court and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The Police reaffirmed their commitment to fighting drug-related crimes and urged the public to continue supporting efforts to make communities safer.
