R&B superstar Chris Brown has been arrested in Manchester over a violent incident that allegedly took place more than a year ago.
According to UK authorities, the 36-year-old singer was taken into custody at The Lowry Hotel on May 15, 2025, in connection with an assault case stemming from February 2023. The incident occurred at the exclusive Tape nightclub in Mayfair, London.
Music producer Abe Diaw claims Brown attacked him with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle and continued to beat him while he was on the ground—allegedly leaving him hospitalized and walking on crutches.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a man matching Brown’s description was arrested “on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.”
This arrest came ahead of Brown’s scheduled UK tour dates, raising questions about the future of the “Breezy Bowl XX” tour, which is set to begin June 15.
In addition to the arrest, Diaw has filed a $16 million lawsuit in the UK, citing physical and emotional trauma.
While Brown’s camp has yet to release a statement, this is not the first time the singer has been in legal trouble.
His past includes a felony conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009 and other legal disputes over the years.
