Police arrest suspect with large quantity of tramadol and over GHC66,000 cash

The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of a 29-year-old man, Adam Mohamed, for allegedly engaging in the illegal trade of narcotic substances.

The arrest was made by the Airport District Police Command during a targeted operation at Aboabo No.1 on the night of Saturday, May 10, 2025, around 10:00 p.m.

The operation formed part of ongoing efforts by the Police to clamp down on drug trafficking activities within the area.

According to a police statement, a search conducted during the arrest led to the discovery of large quantities of Tramadol in varying strengths. Specifically, officers retrieved:

  • 35 packs of 250mg Tramadol
  • 28 packs of 120mg Tramadol
  • 11 packs of 225mg Tramadol
  • Approximately 50 empty cartons believed to be used for packaging and transporting the drugs

Additionally, police found a sum of Sixty-Six Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GHS 66,950.00) in the suspect’s room. The cash is suspected to be proceeds from the illegal sale of the drugs and has been taken as evidence.

Adam Mohamed is currently in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations. All seized items, including the narcotics and the cash, have been secured to support further legal action.

The Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to fighting drug-related crime and urged the public to continue supporting efforts to rid communities of narcotic trafficking and abuse.
