Ntim Fordjour dismisses reports of defamation suit from Dafeamekpor

Member of Parliament for Assin South, Hon. Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has broken his silence on reports that he is being sued by his colleague, South Dayi MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, over alleged defamatory comments made during a media interview.
According to multiple reports, Dafeamekpor initiated legal action against Ntim Fordjour following comments the Assin South legislator allegedly made, linking him to attempts to sabotage Ghana’s judiciary and impugn the integrity of the Chief Justice.
The suit, which is believed to cite defamation and character assassination, has sparked widespread public and political interest.
However, in a statement released on May 16, 2025, Ntim Fordjour stated that while he has seen the media reports, he has not been served with any legal documents regarding the said suit.
“Media reports of a suit supposedly filed by my colleague, honourable Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has come to my attention. I have, however, not been served with any such suit,” the statement reads.
He went on to add that he awaits official service of the purported suit and expressed confidence that he would prove its lack of merit.
“I, therefore, await the service of the supposed suit and will demonstrate that it is of no merit,” the MP said.
The friction between the two MPs is believed to stem from heated political commentary in the wake of controversial judicial appointments and parliamentary oversight debates.
Dafeamekpor, a vocal advocate for judicial reform and transparency, has previously criticised what he described as partisan interference in the judiciary, sentiments which may have drawn the rebuke of Fordjour.
