Sammi Awuku calls for drastic measures to fight drug abuse among Ghanaian youth

Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, has expressed worry over the abuse of drugs by Ghanaian youth.

He is of the view that something drastic needs to be done to ensure that drug abuse is fought in the country, as it is destroying the youth.

Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Singing Band of the Akuapem Presbytery, the Member of Parliament called for a collaboration between the Church and his office to fight such abuses that are steadily eroding the values of Ghanaian society.

He said, “Today at the Annual Conference of the Singing Band of the Akuapem Presbytery, I spoke from a place of deep concern about the moral and cultural decline we’re witnessing in Okuapeman and beyond.

With 87 basic schools, 10 senior high schools, and two special needs institutions in our constituency, we simply cannot take the future of our children for granted.

I called for a strong partnership between my office and the Presbyterian Church as we confront the rising challenges of drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and homosexuality issues that are silently but steadily eroding the values we hold dear”.
