ECG, NADMO team up to restore power after Accra floods

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced ongoing efforts in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to restore power to parts of the Greater Accra Region affected by Sunday’s heavy rainstorm and widespread flooding.

In a statement released on Monday, May 19, the ECG said several areas were deliberately disconnected from the power grid at NADMO’s request due to severe flooding and safety concerns.

The affected communities include Borteyman Stadium, Affordable Housing, Borteyman Township, Little Roses, Lakeside, Nanakrom, Kissieman, Dome Pillar 2, Christian Village, School Junction, School Junction Melcom, Nmaidzor Zoomlion, University Farms, Trasacco 3rd Gate, Legon Hill, Santoe, Blue Kiosk, Adenta ECG Office, and Madina Islamic University.

ECG assured the public that it is working closely with NADMO and will follow the agency’s safety directives before restoring electricity to the affected areas.

The utility provider also urged customers experiencing localised power outages or observing fallen poles and sagging conductors to report such incidents.

Reports can be made through the ECG Call Center on 0302-611611, at any ECG office, or through their official social media channels via @ECGghOfficial.

“We appreciate the patience of our customers and assure them that every effort is being made to restore power safely and efficiently,” the statement said.
