My appointment as a Board Member for ECG is a tough call

Legislator Eric Edem Agbaba has acknowledged that his appointment as a Board Member of the Electricity Company of Ghana is a tough call.
However, leaders like himself are born for this and therefore, he and his colleagues will work hard to deliver power to the people of Ghana.
He acknowledges that he and his colleagues come in at a time the country is struggling with the energy sector but he is optimistic that with the support they will provide the Minister, he will be able to achieve a reset of ECG.
In a post shared via social media, he said “Grateful for the Opportunity to Serve
I am deeply honoured to have been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), a strategic national asset that plays a pivotal role in powering our economy and daily lives.
I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to H.E. John Dramani Mahama for the trust and confidence reposed in me.
The ECG stands at a critical crossroads. While its role is central to Ghana’s development agenda, it is no secret that the company is beset with numerous operational, structural, and financial challenges. It is in such moments of difficulty that true commitment to public service must shine through.
While I am sincerely grateful for the overwhelming goodwill, well wishes, and congratulatory messages I have received from across the country, my primary focus is not celebration but responsibility. Our job has been clearly set out by the sector minister, Hon. John Jinapor, who is on a bold mission to reset the power sector. We must all support him to deliver.
I am committed to working diligently under the experienced leadership of the venerable Dr. William Amuna, our Board Chairman, and with the entire board to contribute meaningfully to reforms that will ensure ECG becomes more efficient, transparent, and responsive to the needs of Ghanaians.
This appointment is not just an honour; it is a call to serve. It is a tough call, but leaders are born for moments like this.
Let us all remember that Ghana’s future depends on how well we manage its key institutions.
Thank You.
