Flashback: Exorbitant Data Undermines Quality of Democracy

Amid the calls for reduced data prices, a tweet by the now Foreign Affairs Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has emerged on social media.
In the tweet, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who has always sought accountability, indicated that data is not a luxury.
He further indicated that the exorbitant data undermines the quality of Ghana’s democracy, as many citizens are priced out of making their democratic contributions.

Currently, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power and the calls for reduced data has emerged once again.
However, the now Foreign Affairs Minister has not made any comment on the issue.
Minister of Communications, Sam Nartey George who, while in opposition, blamed his predecessor for the rise in data prices today is telling Ghanaians that he has no power to take off tariffs on data, which is contributing to the rise in the prices.
